The Roanoke County School Board has named Jamie Soltis as the new principal at Glenvar High School, beginning July 1.  Soltis replaces Joe Hafey, who will retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.

Soltis, a graduate of Glenvar High School, holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Longwood University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia.

Soltis first joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 1999 as a teacher at William Byrd High School.  He moved to Glenvar High School a year later, where he was a teacher and wrestling coach.  In 2006, he was selected as Roanoke County’s nominee for the Virginia Teacher of the Year.  In 2007, he became an assistant principal at Glenvar High School and in 2012 Soltis was named principal at Glenvar Middle School.

“Jamie has demonstrated outstanding leadership at Glenvar Middle School and I’m pleased he will continue offering his leadership at Glenvar High School,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Greg Killough.  “Joe Hafey has been an outstanding principal at Glenvar High School.  We thank him for his many years of service and we wish him all the best in his retirement,” Killough said.
