Lala states that: “My mission is to teach the love of music to both typical and special needs students.” She teaches four special needs students privately, and also teaches music at Lutheran Family Services of Virginia.

Her 23 students vary in age from kindergarten to adult. Students enjoy her unique teaching techniques. Lala encourages her students to present papers that show their passion for the song as well as give background information on the composer.

Student artwork is presented at the recital, which shows what music means to them. This year a student created and wore a Cruella deVille mask to show her enthusiasm for her song “Cruella deVille.”
